From San Diego to San Jose: The California Food Guide

From April 29th to May 16th, I took a little break from the usual routine and fully embraced life on the West Coast—starting in San Diego and ending in San Jose. I’ve always believed in living fully and fueling well, and this trip reminded me how good food, new places, and slowing down can reset the soul.

The real highlight? THE FOOD.

You know I couldn’t resist sharing some of the incredible eats along the way—because whether you’re planning your own trip or just love living vicariously through good meals, this list is worth the scroll.

San Diego, California Food Guide:

📍Pop Pie Co (University Heights)Let me just say this: chicken pot pie + kale salad = obsession. I will absolutely be trying to recreate this combo at home. The flavors were comforting but fresh, and honestly, this meal was perfection after a long day of walking.

📍The Fishery (Pacific Beach)If you’re a seafood lover, this one is a must. Their fish tacos and cocktails were so refreshing—but heads up, it’s strictly fish-forward here. A true ocean-to-table gem.

📍Tap Room Beer Co (University Heights)Sometimes you just need a quick, satisfying bite. We split some crispy chicken tenders and a fresh salad—nothing fancy, just good food that hit the spot.

📍Wonderland Ocean PubI came for the cocktails and the sunset views. The drinks were great, and while the clouds had other plans for the view, the vibe was unbeatable.

📍Hillcrest Farmers MarketYou already know I have a soft spot for local markets. There’s nothing like hand-picking fresh produce and seeing what the community has to offer—Hillcrest did not disappoint.

📍Sandbar (Mission Beach)Cinco de Mayo done right! Fish tacos and margaritas with a beachy vibe made this one feel like the perfect celebration.

📍Part Time Lovers (North Park)Cocktail bar meets speakeasy vibes. It was moody, stylish, and the drinks were chef’s kiss. A great spot to wind down or kick off the night.

📍Stella Jean’s Ice CreamOkay… life-changing. The vegan ice cream here was SO creamy I had to double-check it was actually dairy-free. If they ever want to franchise—I’ll run the location myself. No joke.

📍Pacific Coast Grill (Cardiff by the Sea)First time genuinely loving sushi, and it’s all thanks to the way they prepared it—no overpowering seaweed. The chicken taquitos and catch-of-the-day sandwich were also phenomenal.

📍Alexander’s on 30th (North Park)The cutest Italian restaurant with photo-worthy ambiance and incredible food. We split a pizza, salad, and pasta dish… and every single bite was as dreamy as it sounds. Wine-only spot, so bring your vino-loving friends!
